BEGINNING AND INTERMEDIATE SKILL LEVELS

Thursday evening's beginners recharge by exploring fundamental handbuilding and pottery wheel techniques. We cover the processes involved for pinching and coiling pots as well as utilizing slab methods to create a variety of forms. In addition, we will attempt to transfer those skills to the pottery wheel.

Intermediate students will recharge by playing in the mud and learning the skills necessary for making forms using the pottery wheel. This will include mastering the process of centering, opening and forming the cylinder. We will also produce bowls and other utilitarian and decorative ware. We will concentrate on triming and footing our work.  In addition, we will explore the different kinds of lids and handles.
